If you are a serious server owner and you already set up a server with any version of Rival Rebels Mod, please contact me and I could promote your server on this page.
Scheduled battles and factions can be coordinated from the Rival Rebels Forum. The servers marked as OP Sync share the same Admin Officers / Banned Players lists and are enforced to follow the RR Server's Rules.
Note: Rodol's Test Server is not "online mode = false" (no crack software). Not open for players with no Minecraft account. You need to have a Minecraft account to play. Why? Because it is where I test the new features I develop for RR mod, meaning that I need to have it all nominal in order to troubleshoot glitches and bugs. :(   But if you are setting up an open for all server, I'll help you out by promoting it on this site.

You need Rival Rebels 1.7.10Z1 to play!

Rival Rebels Server & LAN - Battle Mode customization.

-The Game Starter  block. To use the Rival Rebels spawn autobuild, get on creative mode and give yourself a Game-Starter block, place it where you want the battle rounds to start, and switch back to survival mode. When you break the block, the spawn dome will be constructed on the sky (where all incoming players will automatically spawn and be prompted by "the team & class selection GUI"), in addition two team spawn base areas will be created in the map, setting the Sigma and Omega objectives and 4 team spawn points around each.

Notes:
  1. The game starter needs to be set once per map, when the battle ends a new dome, new spawn points & team's objectives will be generated automatically in Z+ direction on the same map.
  2. If the round is interrupted using the /roundstop command, a new game-started needs to be place to start over.

-The Sky Dome is located equidistant to the team's bases in the ground.  The distance between them can be adjusted thought the RR config file to spawn the bases closer or farther to each other.

-The Rival Rebels Config file is located in the config folder, inside the server's folder. and can be open with a text editor to adjust the game options to your likings: Team base distance, dome size, bunker size, reset count, flare explosion, infinite amo, infinite grenades, weapon projectile decay (bullet reach), nuclear bomb and time bomb count down times, nuclear bomb's strength (the nuclear bombs strength, is (x^2)/2+y, where x is the amount of rods and y is the strength assigned in the config file. (In other words, lower the value to 0 for a smaller explosion, and put it higher for a bigger explosion).

-The reset button on "the team & class selection GUI" allows the player to change class within a battle round. Doing so will clear their inventory and provide the items from the new class kit they pick. Changing classes is necessary when a team loses players, but the feature can be easily exploited to farm items. Stashing the kit on a Loader before killing himself to gather more items. So the default resets count is set to 2 in the config file, meaning the player can reset two more times after the first class is picked, them the button will grey out.  I set it this way so new players have the chance to try the different classes, but in a more advanced game it should be reduced to avoid the exploit. (Well getting the nuclear rods in game is hard enough, and farming the one provided to the Nuker's kit is a legit team effort).

-The Team &  Class Selection GUI

teamselectoe
  • Customizable Server Info: This GUI allows the server owner to add detailed information through the motd.txt file inside /mods/RivalRebels/Spawn, the information added will show for all clients on the top window of the GUI. This way special rules can be explained to the players.
  • Player's Info: The middle window will show statistics of the player , not yet added.
  • Team Win Counts: The lower two windows separate the players in Omega and Sigma teams spotting the selected class in a color code.
  • Player Class Selector: The class button opens the Classes GUI, where the player selects his specialty.
  • Players Class Reset: The reset button clears the player class and allows to change it two times on the same battle.
  • Team Player's List: Show all player's usernames (by team) since last server's boot.
  • Player Team Selector: The two small boxes at the very bottom, will show the number of wins of each team on that map.

Battle Mode Mechanics

  1. RR game will use the same map over and over, automatically moving the spawn for each battle.
  2. When one team's objective gets nuked the round stops.
  3. Upon declaring the victors a small GUI will ask all if the next round should start inmidiatly or wait.
  4. If the majority clicks the Yes button, all players are killed and re-spawn inside the sky-dome to be prompt with the selector GUI.
  5. To interact with the game-play mechanics please use the Multiplayer Commands shown above in this page.
  6. To interact with team colors and in game display use Minecraft command block.
  7. To fully reset teams and locations, or to start over on the same map, place a new Game Starter Block on the desired location.

Tutorial: How to set up your Minecraft modded server

Setting Up your Server for 1.7.10 / 1.6.4

  • 1. Download latest Minecraft Forge Installer.
  • 2. Download RivalRebels.zip or jar.
  • 3. Download the latest minecraft_server.jar from the Minecraft downloads section.
  • Note: If you need to download an older version of MC server, paste the following path example in your browser:  assets.minecraft.net/1_6_2/minecraft_server.jar . Change the version number in green according to your needs. The download should start automatically
  • 4. Make a folder and put the minecraft_server.jar inside.
  • 6. Double click Forge Installer, select server, browse the path to the folder we just create and click OK.
  • 7. Create a "mods" folder inside the folder we created on step 4, and drag Rival Rebels into it.
  • 8. Open up any text editor and paste into a new file: "java -Xms1G -Xmx1G -jar minecraft_server.jar". This code is to start up the server, to modify the amount of gigabytes of RAM assigned to the server you can change the number "1" in "-Xms1G" and "-Xmx1G" to the amount of gigabytes you want to dedicate to the server. "Xmx" is the maximum RAM, and "Xms" is the minimum RAM to use.
  • 9. Paste the code and save it as: NAME.bat into the folder you created earlier, where NAME is any name you choose. Run the server with the .bat file you named and you're off!
  • 9. If you are on Mac or Linux, then name it NAME.sh. The .sh file you will need to run from the terminal, by using "cd 'path/to/server'", then "bash NAME.sh". These two commands just run the file for you, change the directory to the server folder directory
  • (For more information you can go to the Minecraft Wiki tutorial)
  • 10. If you are behind a router, or you have a firewall on your computer, you have to open a port for the incoming players to see your server. To do so, go to advanced/portforwarding on the router options or firewall, and give minecraft_server.jar a port with TCP 25565, and assign it to the local IP of the computer that runs the server. Set the schedule to "always", and the inbound filter to "allow all".
  • 11. To set the MotD (Message of the Day) that displays in the MC multiplayer server list, open the server.properties file with a text editor, (the file is generated inside the server folder after you run the server once), and write a short message next to the equal sign on the value called motd. It should look like this:     motd= you can put whatever text you want here.

  **Download RR 1.6.4 Server Patch**
Note: RR 1.7.10 doesn't need a server patch

Whats in the Patch:

No moving too quickly:  For MC versions 1.6.4/1.6.2 /1.5.2  (server only), the patch makes the Jump Block and the Plasma Cannon to properly work on the server, by turning off Mojangs "moving too quickly" limitation. Please uncompress the "rr_server_patch.zip" file and follow the instructions on the readme to install.
Rodol's No Oceans: For 1.6.4/1.6.2 versions, the patch also changes the ocean biome into high mountains populated by nether mobs :) . (I got sick of playing war in endless oceans) The server has to generate a new map after the .jar has been patched.
Note: RR 1.7.10 doesn't need a server patch

Further Customization:

- To use the Rival Rebels spawn autobuild, get on creative mode and give yourself a Game-Starter block, place it where you want the spawn to start, and switch back to survival mode. Break the block. The spawn dome will be constructed on the sky for the team & class selection GUI, and the 4 spawn point will be set around each team objective.
- You can set the MotD (Message of the Day) in the server.properties file, generated in the server folder after running the server at least once, the last value is the motd. It will look like this:
motd=
after the = you can put whatever text you want.
- In the config file of Rival Rebels (located inside the config folder, inside the server's folder) you can specify certain values to your likings, including the spawn's glass dome radius, the teleport distance when hitting a omega or sigma block (defaults to 150 blocks), the nuclear bomb's strength (the nuclear bombs strength, is (x^2)/2+y, where x is the amount of rods and y is the strength assigned in the config file. In English, lower the value to 0 for a smaller explosion, and put it higher for a bigger explosion.), and many more values.

Old Spawn System (from versions 1.5.1 / 1.4.6 )

  glassdome1

When you join a multiplayer server with Rival Rebels installed, and the server's spawn has been set up using the "Game Starter" auto-build block, you will spawn in a forceshield dome that has 3 blocks inside it; the Omega, Sigma, and the Reset block. By hitting either the Omega or Sigma block, you choose your faction, and will be teleported 150 blocks (configurable) away from spawn, in the opposite direction of the other team, with a faction bunker auto-build in you inventory. Your first duty will be to find a suitable place for your base; near your allies, hidden, and accessible. Place your bunker, hit it to auto-build, and follow the status messages to gear up. Every time you die you will be send back to the forceshield dome, where you could either hit again the faction block to respawn back to your base or to hit the reset button to start over with a fresh bunker.

glassdome2

By hitting the reset block, you erase your old spawn coordinates and subtract one bunker of the original given total number. The default number of bunker resets is 10 (configurable), so you can start over 10 times until you run out. After the reset, you can switch faction and you will be sent to the correspondent side of the map and be given a new bunker of that team. Inside your bunker you will find the crates that contain a variety of things: The ammunition box, weapon rack, explosives crate, supply crate, flags box and faction's armor crate, please remember to equip your armor and wear it at all times to avoid being killed easily. The camo armor defends you from 6 Tesla hits at mid range. To choose a flag, first cycle through them and then to break it sneak - hit it  (shift - click) to pick the currently displayed flag. Once you gear up by breaking all crates open, stash some supplies in a chest, get some bread from the magic toaster, test the weapons and go hunt some players down.
Have fun!

Configuration File

The config file is a very useful thing, you can experiment with it in singleplayer. It allows you to change many variables and affect your game. This mod has many parts that might not work as expected in creative mode, so do not report anything about creative mode, because I really don't care. This game is for survival multiplayer. You can test out weapons and blocks in singleplayer creative mode though. There is a command to reset a player's bunker file and reset file. To start a new game, you can use /reset all. To reset an individual use /reset <playername>

MCPC, Forge & Bukkit + World Edit

I tested MCPC (Forge & Bukkit + World Edit) for two days on my Rival Rebels server, but I found too many glitches that I have neither the time nor patience to fix. :(   . For instance the Tesla does not render the arch, the plasma cannon projectile goes side ways when shot, and the end of game (after the objective is nuked) does not work properly. The only thing I was able to patch was the moving too fast antihack that blocks the plasma explosion, lagging, and spamming the server's terminal. I had planned to make some Omega and Sigma nation structures with World Edit :(

We recorded this video on my PvP server in "The City Of God's" map (originally running RR v. 1.0).

My Server build specs were: Intel core Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40 GHz x 4 . Os type Ubuntu 12.04 LTD 64-bit. 8 Gigs of RAM. I assigned 7 gigs of RAM max 6 min. to minecraft_server.jar through the terminal.
